Document Builder Generates Blurry Data - Doubling Effect

When generating a document and sending as an attachment in an update notification request, recipient complains the text field data has a doubling effect. This makes the text too blurry to read. I've tested the auto generation by sending the update request notification with the attachment to myself. When I do that, it generates as expected with no blurring. When I open the document directly in the sheet, it is not blurred. I do not understand what is happening or how to fix it.

    hi @Jason_AZ86Biz,

Seems like the mapping in Smartsheet is wrongly setup or in the AdobeAcrobat (where you were setting up the fillable fields) there must have been some wrong data in those fields already.

I would check those 2 options first.

Let me know if it helped.

  • Thank you for responses. The native docx file has no additional data beyond the field labels. I've removed any extraneous lines from the docx source. I've also re-built it from scratch using Adobe. I've made sure the field properties match those in the sheet. Neither improved the rendering. It's perfectly clear when I open the attachment but whenever it goes to someone else, it produces that doubling effect on their end.

I am having a similar issue. PDF created in Adobe Acrobat 2020 and mapped in Smartsheet Document Builder. PDF ONLY has field names in the editable fields. When I generate the document attaching to the Row and view it through SS document viewer it looks fine. When I download the PDF or generate the PDF independently, it resolves the field content twice and looks blurry, as a result.

  • There appears to be an issue with Microsoft Edge when user opens the PDF using the browser. When using Chrome, it renders fine. Smartsheet support is looking into it. I appreciate everyone's comments!
