It might sound weird but one of the things I have on my desk that is so important to me is my phone holder. It has served me for years and it really helps to quickly see messages or calls without having to pick up the phone every time it buzzes.

Some people might think it can be distracting, I already have 3 huge screens why add another tiny one. However, in my line of work, information receipt and reply is vital. Being able to quickly see what calls/messages pop up and let's me decide if to pend or reply asap.

I have some like this too. Saves a lot time, only have to move hands between keyboard and mouse.

My desk is relatively uncluttered but the things that stand out are the pictures of my grandchildren. All 6 of them!!

I have a fisheye blind spot mirror so I can keep an eye on my old dog who likes to pick her nap spot right behind my chair. It also helps her get my attention to let me know she wants me to get away from the computer and take her on a walk outside.

In 2019, my colleagues and I were each gifted a Gumby as symbols of all the flexibility we had to exercise in our jobs as the company was doing some major restructuring and our roles/responsibilities were constantly changing. I've carried it with me through a couple of tough transfers, and it reminds me of all the things I accomplished during those emotional times. I learned so much about myself and that I can rise to the challenge and make anything a positive learning experience. When I was growing up, my dad always used to tell me, "Adventure starts when things don't go as planned." Between that and my Gumby, I have constant reminders that change happens; it's not always a bad thing, and I can do more than I ever thought I could.

My mini whiteboard. It's a 5x5 board that I update everyday with a meetings list, a list of action items due for the week, and a list of in-the-works items with no set due date. Each list has a specific color so it helps keep me organized and keeps me on top of deadlines.

For my 1-year anniversary, a colleague gave me this with a handwritten note on the back. It meant a lot at the time and still means a lot as I took a leap to leave one job for this one. But I've survived here for 1.5+ years. This colleague has been a great peer and mentor. Amongst all the cool trinkets that I have at my desk, this is a constant reminder of what's ahead.

I don't keep much of sentimental value on my desk, but I always have a bag of candy (currently Starburst) within reach. Not the healthiest thing but it definitely helps whenever I just need a little something to keep me going.

A mug on my desk. This mug is important to me because it was a gift from a special team, symbolizing our teamwork and solidarity. It reminds me of the importance of collaboration and building strong relationships in the workplace

My sisters gifted me a snoopy stuffed animal that I keep on my desk now. Although it isn't a sentimental item that I had in my childhood, it reminds me to remember that kid inside me and not take life too seriously! Makes me smile daily!

I keep only essentials on my desk. I work from home and it's less distracting when it is this way. Plus, I like things tidy and in it's place much like a spreadsheet, LOL.

I have this crazy looking sign on my desk that reminds me to laugh, especially when things get stressful.

`Choose an item on your desk, why is it important to you?`

I do my best to keep my desk clear but the one thing I'll always have within reach is a notebook and pen. In this increasingly digital world, a pen and some paper still play a huge role for me in my daily workflow.

Starting my day by writing down my "Top 3 priorities" and highlighting that "one activity I intend to get done" lets me start my day in the right way before jumping into emails, Teams messages, etc.

This is a small collection of Thank-you notes I've received in the last few years. These mean the most to me, so they are on my board. The bottom picture is the reminder of why I do what I do. I have been created for such a time as this. 💙
