Without linking every cell individually, is there a better way of copying a column of cell contents from one smartsheet to another ?

    Lance,

Do you want Copy or Linked data.  i.e. Copy the data will not change or update and is not connected to the the original. Link is linked so that if the master cell/cells change the linked ones do as well.

To copy - select the cells use control C to copy, click into the first cell in the new sheet and use control V to paste.

To link multiple cells - Select the Master cells and again use control C to copy, Click in the first destination cell, Right Mouse button, select Paste special and select "Link to copied cells".

I hope this answers you query.

    Hello James R,

Yes, as per the title I  would like to copy cells from one smartsheet to another.

Is there a way of doing this.

Up to now the only way I can do it (apart from linking all the cells) is to copy rows to the bottom of the other sheet then copy the cells from the copied rows to where I need them in the destination sheet.

There must be an easier way ?

Please explain what you mean by “select the cells use” ?

    Lance,

Ifits a row or multiple rows in thier entirety then you can click to thhe left to select the row(s) then right mouse and select copy to another sheet.  This sheet must have the same columns in it by Name, do not need to be in the same order and can contain additional columns.

That no longer works. The only way I have been able to copy is either 1 cell at a time or all the data into one cell by double clicking and Control V or right clicking and selecting Paste. I believe it used to work, but after the latest upgrade it no longer does. This is an enormous inconvenience.

I have seen some discussion elsewhere that some people are having similar issues.

    Any ideas?

    Alfonse,

I have just tested it and it work d fine for me.

I copied and pasted dates into a date column and text into a text column.

Do you use a Mac.  They sometimes can throw up problems.

Can the content flow from either sheet? Original or subsequent?

It depends on how your sheets are structured:

    Cell Linking: https://help.smartsheet.com/articles/861579-cell-linking

    Cross Sheet Referencing: https://help.smartsheet.com/articles/2476606-formulas-reference-data-from-other-sheets

Use third party tools - Zapier, Azuqua (These involve additional costs)
