Little Data, Big Problem (Live Data Connector)

I'm still trying to work with a data set (Smartsheet report) that has 217K rows x 32 columns.

Using the data connector, excel can connect but not import the report data unless I reduce the number of rows. I tried breaking up data into fiscal year reports.  I was able to connect to each report but could never append the data in excel to work with as single data set. I tried multiple times using 32 and 64 bit versions of excel, win7 and win10.

Today I tried working with the Power BI desktop app.  The odbc connection works fine but I still get a same problem: "The table has no visible columns and cannot be queried".

Next steps:

1) try working with smaller reports in Power BI desktop

2) try QlikView desktop

3) try Tableau desktop

Tableau says:   An error occurred while communicating with Other Databases (ODBC). Unable to connect to the server. Check that the server is running and that you have access privileges to the requested database.

There was an error executing an SQL query: 'no such table:

ODBC connections do work with small reports but refresh slowly as the report results increase. I'm running into the same issue with excel, Power BI, Tableau.  Right now I'm going to guess that this is a smartsheet issue (unable to pass report data after the number of report rows exceeds a certain number).
