Word count on webform application
Hello,
I am looking to include a word count and/or word count max restriction on an essay portion of a webform application. I would at minimum like to show applicants how many words they have typed and ideally like to restrict the total words that they can enter.
The worst case scenario would be to ask them to draft the essays in word and Copy + Paste the essay into the form, but I would really like to avoid this. Can anyone help?

Unfortunately, it isn't possible with Smartsheet forms, but it might be possible with a third party integration.
I'll check what I can find and get back to you!
Update: You could probably set it up with the help of the Smartsheet Synch for Google Forms integration.

Another option could be to set something up with the help of a service like Zapier.

The primary issue may be that the data does not exist in Smartsheet until it is submitted and the Form does not have a sophisticated editor. Most form tools don't.
At one point, I was using Gravity Forms for WordPress and there's a word counter add-on. I use JotForm now - it has a configurable maximum.
If you opt for Word, this might be a better choice:

I also used Gravity Forms but for me the main minus of this plugin is the price. Purchasing the personal package is a bit pointless, because you won’t have access to any of the add-ons, which are the main benefit.
I am using two tools that are extremely useful : https://essaytoolbox.com/word-counter and wordcounter.net. They have some differences but still they are th best ones.
