Keep dashboards in full-screen mode when navigating dashboard links
When presenting Smartsheet dashboards in full-screen mode, clicking a link to another Smartsheet item, for example another dashboard, automatically exits full-screen mode.
This creates friction during executive presentations. Instead of being able to move smoothly between dashboards, the presenter is forced back into the standard browser view, breaking the flow and reducing the polished presentation experience.
As a workaround, users often screenshot dashboards and paste them into PowerPoint simply to maintain a seamless presentation experience. This creates unnecessary duplication, adds manual effort, and means stakeholders are no longer viewing live Smartsheet data.
Desired future state
When a user is in full-screen dashboard mode and clicks a link to another Smartsheet dashboard or item, Smartsheet should remain in full-screen mode.
This would allow users to present live, connected dashboards confidently in executive meetings, without needing to recreate the experience in PowerPoint.
To add: Full-screen mode should include the Dashboard filtering tool, or more specifically, the ability to toggle the Dashboard Context Layer.
Business value
This would improve Smartsheet's value as an executive reporting and presentation platform by:
- Supporting smoother executive presentations.
- Reducing reliance on static screenshots and PowerPoint workarounds.
- Increasing confidence in live dashboards.
- Improving the user experience for leadership reporting.
- Strengthening Smartsheet's position as a real-time business visibility platform.
For enterprise users building connected dashboard ecosystems and executive reporting hubs, this small change would materially improve the presentation experience.
