Automation Workflows Not Functioning

Hello,

We have several automations configured to copy a row to another sheet when specific criteria are met. Recently, these automations have been intermittently failing. For example, they worked this morning but stopped working this afternoon, and then they often begin working again the following day without any changes on our end.

We can manually trigger the automation by making edits to the row/running the automation manually, but we're trying to understand why the automations are behaving inconsistently. Since the issue is intermittent, it's been difficult to identify a pattern.

Anyone having similar issues or know if there are any known issues that could explain this behavior?

This appears to be a widespread, unreported automation issue. We are experiencing issues across numerous users.

We are getting this problem with various clients today. Can't seem to track down the issue though.

I've had this issue since Aug 4, 12 A.M..Rows won't copy to sub sheets. I've created new automations but it only goes through if it's manually ran. I've contacted Support via chat and can't get a live agent, phone support wait times are well over an hour, and personalized support scheduling isn't available until August 28. They should know this isn't working by all these reports. Strange no official acknowledgment of the issue from Smartsheet.

I agree—it’s a little frustrating that we can’t report what appears to be a product issue without having paid support. From what I can tell, this doesn’t seem to be related to how I have things configured; it appears to be an issue with the product itself. I’ve also submitted feedback and requested to be contacted, but I haven’t received a response.

I thought I was just going crazy for a minute, so it's actually reassuring to know it's not just me. That said, it's really easy to miss things or have work fall through the cracks when something you've designed isn't functioning properly.

Last week I finally received a response from my Support Request from a few weeks ago saying that they are engaging the support team responsible for Automation Workflows. Today I got an email asking for more information and a specific example of the problem. After I sent that they claimed to have issued a fix for the issue but the automations are still not executing when they are claiming to have run. Very frustrating how so many people can have this issue and it still be a problem.

Did your issue ever get resolved? I am scheduled for a live trouble shooting session tomorrow for them to see what is going on. I will definitely mention that there are other people having issues as well.

I am also having issues starting on Monday 8/23/26. My issue is automations are triggering without the trigger actually being fulfilled. Any change to the row is causing the automation to trigger, instead of triggering when a a specific field is filled. I put in a help desk ticket but have not received a response.

@Alexis R Interesting! The automation we are concerned with not executing (the most noticeable one) doesn't have attachments or anything. Which also makes me concerned about the automations that are not obvious that are not executing.

The live session bore no fruit other than the issue being escalated. Our automation was confirmed to be set up correctly and it would "run" but not execute the action. I made sure to mention this was not just a problem for our set up so hopefully they take it more seriously now 🤞
