For those using the Smartsheet API, what are the most valuable use cases you've implemented beyond basic data synchronization?

I've been exploring how APIs and AI can work together to automate reporting, simplify complex business workflows, and surface insights from data. AI has helped me overcome many of the technical hurdles and shortened the learning curve considerably.

I'd love to hear examples of integrations, automations, or AI-powered solutions that have delivered measurable business value. What has been your biggest win so far?

Great question, and the timing is perfect. This is exactly the shift we're seeing across the builder community: from "keep two systems in sync" to "let the data do something."

A few patterns that consistently stand out beyond basic sync:

• Automated reporting pipelines. Pulling data from multiple sheets or reports via the API, summarizing it with an LLM, and pushing a narrative status update to stakeholders, instead of someone building it by hand every Friday.
• Event-driven workflows. Using webhooks to trigger downstream actions (approvals, ticket creation, notifications in other systems) the moment a row changes, rather than polling on a schedule.
• AI agents working directly with Smartsheet data. With the Smartsheet MCP Server, tools like Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot, or Gemini can read and act on your sheets in natural language. That removes much of the custom code for ad-hoc analysis and lets non-developers get answers on their own.
