This is likely an elementary question, but I am having a challenge to get the formula for the Count of Children when I have the formula, for example, in a column B cell and I want to count the children of column A. What am I doing wrong?
Hi Cindy,
I don't know what you are doing wrong because i can't see your formula
Here is my example. =COUNT(CHILDREN(A1))
I hope this helps you!

Thank you so much.
That worked, duh.
Now one more a little trickier:
Column "Month" is the parent. The children include names and other contact details for people who have filled out an online form to RSVP to a class.. RSVP is a column and each child has populated "Yes, No, or Maybe".
Currently my formula for the RSVP is: =COUNTIF(RSVP473:RSVP511, "Yes")
But, this requires me to constantly maintain the formula settings (e.g. rows 473 through row 511) each month as RSVP's come in.
How can I get a count of "Yes" RSVP's based on the children of Parent "Month" (row 472)
Hi again Cindy,
Happy to help!
Heres for the trickier one.
Andrée
Yay! You rock. I've dealt with that irritation for over a year. So happy!
Thanks!
It was my pleasure!
This really helped me too. Thanks Andree!

Hello, I have a workflow where, when a team member checks a checkbox, Smartsheet automatically sends an email to themselves containing merge fields that are used as a customer email draft. The challenge is that this activity typically happens on a deadline day, and a team member may need to generate 30 or more of these…
Hi all, reaching out to see if of you have ideas; I'm hoping this makes sense: I'm having some trouble getting my formulas to pull data in correctly. I currently have a sheet (primary data) where I have data in rows where each row is a single project, with columns identifying persons, $ values, unique project identifier,…
I have #'s that pull from each project into each sheet's - sheet summary. Those then get pulled into a sheet summary report. They are currently grouped by what channel they are in. Each column gives a total sum. I was asked to see if we can combine the total sum into one number, so it shows how many total SKU's are being…
