As rows get added & cell values change, it would great if we could automatically sort them in the sheets themselves instead of having to set up reports. Adding the ability to do this in a workflow would be a fantastic addition. Right now we have to do it manually.
Would like to have the ability to auto-sort in sheets, especially when setting up filters. Mimic this ability in Reports.
@SSFeatures - according to Chrome this is not a free extension. Did I miss that being mentioned it the above post? If it's not there, I highly recommend that any cost be mentioned for transparency. I've never paid for a Chrome extension, and I don't have budget authority to do so.
Is this gonna be available for Grid view?
Hi @keats76 and others,
This AutoSort feature is available in a very nifty browser extension I came across called SSFeatures. It has quite a few other goodies included, like: • Copy & Paste Automation Workflows, • Conditional Format cloning for multiple columns, • Copy & Paste Conditional Formatting, • Grouped Report PDF generation, • Spell Checker, • Selective Hide/Unhide columns, and many more…

Hi all,
The status of this specific Idea (Automatically Sort Rows) has been updated to "Available" as Table View features automatic, personalized sorting that updates on load or refresh.
There are a lot of related suggestions in the thread here and we are still actively gathering feedback on sorting. For new feedback, it would be best to track these as individual ideas with their own votes and explanations on how the individual features will benefit you as you work in Table view.
Please create any new Ideas about Sorting in Table view here (with the tag, Sort), or search and vote on one if it already exists!
Thank you, Genevieve
Well this problem is resolved in Table View that is available to public now.
@Adrian Mandile CHESS - I downloaded this auto-sort extension but I would have to buy it after the trial period. Did you find a free version?
Glad it's in Table View, but we cannot yet use that view. Thus, the issue remains for Grid View which being a legacy platform, I'm saddened it wasn't included in the feature. I have to resort various grid sheets multiple times a day which eats away at valuable time.
as a workaround until Table View becomes available for you can you not create a version of the sheets in question by way of a row report, which DO auto-sort them?
As suggested by @Genevieve P. , I switched to Table View and found that sorting is available, but only for a single column at a time. I need sorting across multiple columns. This seems like a step backwards, not an improvement. Am I missing something?
Oh! Yes, that would not be of benefit, as our sort from a few of our sheets use the three tier criteria (I wish it had more but we can make do with this). Guess I will remain in Grid View and pray that sort option, though manual, is never minimized.
We do have several reports from these sheets for other purposes, but this is one where rows are added frequently which can't be done on reports. I appreciate the brainstorming!
yes, you can't add new rows into a report, but that would give you the functionality you need, so the source sheet(s) would be where you can do this and then use the row report for the viewing/number crunching. Create an identical version of the sheet as a row report. Think that's the only workaround for now.
Hi @Loann McGee, yes, it is subscription-based, but only about $200/user/yr.
has anyone created a new link to vote on the sorting features suggested by Smartsheet by the voting icon?
