I routinely use pdf attachments for my worksheets and my shared collaborators have been able to open the paperclip. On one particular worksheet none of the pdf paperclips are working. The screen is black. This occurs on a smartphone with a droid ap. jpgs open but not pdfs. Is the only solution to resave all of the .pdfs as jpgs?

This sounds like unexpected behavior. Make sure that you have the latest version of the Smartsheet app for Android and reach out to our Support team to troubleshoot further.
You may also want to do some preliminary troubleshooting by trying to open the same sheet's PDF attachments on a different Android device.
