How do you get the comments to link as well?

You can't access the Comments in a formula, so depending on what you are asking for, it likely can't be done with the GUI.
You can access Comments via the API.
New Comments (not updated ones) can be triggers in Zapier (www.zapier.com) - an automation tool. There are others that integrate with Smartsheet, but I did not check them.
