Is there a way to extend conditional formatting to Calendar View? I did notice that if you click on an individual item you can change to desired color. But my project extends over 2FYs and has over 1000 items, so individual formatting is not an option. Thank you.
Hi Ginny,
The events in the Calendar view of your sheet are defined by task bars. You can create conditional formatting rules that change the color of the task bars. When creating or editing a rule, select this format then click Task Bar and select your color. Details on this are available in our Help Center: https://help.smartsheet.com/articles/516359-conditional-formatting
Thanks so much!
Shaine,
I don't know if I am missing a step or what, but my conditional formatting is working on my grid view, but not the calendar view. The specific usage is a team Time Off Calendar. I want company holidays to show one color (light yellow), PTO to appear a different color (green), and floating holidays a third color (light blue). Right now (with the conditional formatting set up), they all appear the same default color (light blue). Help please!
Steve
Steve,
It sounds like you're running into the same exact behavior that Ginny ran into—the same recommendation I gave to her should work for you as well. Please edit your conditional formatting rules (click this format) to change the color of the task bars in the color picker.
Ah ha! Thanks for the screen shot. I wasn't getting the verbal description in your initial response. Once I saw it, it was clear and simple to rectify. Thanks for your direction!
Any time!
Task Bar is a nonspecific name for the element so it can be confusing at first glance.
For future reference, the Task Bar refers to the Calendar event bars (Calendar View), Gantt task bars (Gantt View), and the vertical bar on the left side of cards (Card View).
Hello, I do not have the option to adjust the task bar color on my sheet when selecting conditional format. Can you help me understand what is not correct?
Thanks
I have the same issue.
What causes the task bar to disappear in the conditional formatting window?
Nevermind, I realize that the taskbar will only show up if the column selected for conditional formatting is set as a dropdown list.
