How can I hide different columns from the one sheet for different users?
Hi there!
I have a trouble. I'm sharing a main sheet to a few users and I would like to show them different columns from this main sheet. How can I do it? What will be better?

Hello @Andre77
I would recommend making several reports of the main sheet, and only including the columns you want the certain people to see in those specific reports.
You can then share each report with the person.
Hope that helps,
Christian

Hi @Andre77
I hope you're well and safe!
Is the data sensitive, or is it ok for them to be able to see everything?
Be safe, and have a fantastic week!

Thank You @Christian Graf ! I'll play with it)
-
@Andrée Starå they can see only the columns I allowed.
-
Would they need to be able to edit the report too?

@Andrée Starå if possible, I would like to allow them to edit a couple of columns.
-
@Andrée Starå I created the reports for the each user and shared to them. now they can see and edit only allowed columns.
maybe you can suggest me an easier way 😀
-
Yes, but they can still view everything and also access the sheet.
If it's important that they shouldn't be able, too, it won't work with Reports that way.
Make sense?

@Andrée Starå I have locked important columns and hide not allowed columns. now users can see and change only allowed its.
-
No, unfortunately, they can still open Edit Row or the sheet and see everything, but depending on the permissions, they won't be able to edit the columns.
Make sense?

wow, thank You @Andrée Starå! now I can see it. through "Edit Row"...
-
You're more than welcome!
There are a couple of options to make it work.
- Premium App, Dynamic View
- Premium App, WorkApps
- Automated Update Requests
- I recently developed a (what I call), Dynamic View Light. It's pretty advanced, but in short, it uses cross-sheet formulas and INDEX/MATCH and a specific structure and method, so it's only possible to show data that should be available.
Would any of those options work/help

I read about Dynamic View, I think this is a better way but now we're using Pro Plane and don't have access to it.
Second question) How can I use "Search..." in the Report or it's possible only in the Sheets?
-
dynamic view will work, but its not ideal for what you are wanting to do. it doesnt allow for editing straight in the row. it does a pop up to fill in the allowed fields. which is a pain if you are trying to fill in data quickly.
