I can't open email (outlook) attachments on the desktop app
I don't have any problems accessing all the attachments in the browser, but as soon as I switch to the desktop app, I am limited to only opening PDF and word files. Is there a limitation on the app for email?
Any help on this will be greatly appreciated.

Hi @Carla L
Would you mind clarifying exactly what attachments you're unable to access, and what you're seeing?
If you are looking to view a .msg file type attached to a row, the Desktop App should ask to save the file to the local drive (whereas the Web app will download it to your Downloads folder).
If you're getting an error message or a different result, it would be helpful to see screen captures, but please block out sensitive data.
Thanks,
Genevieve

Thank you, Genevieve. I cannot open .msg-type files. I need clarification on why the Desktop App asks to save the file to the local drive instead of downloading it to the downloads folder.

Thank you very much in advance for the help!

Hi @Carla L
Thanks for clarifying! Since the Desktop App isn't a browser, it does not currently have a default setting to download attachments to a downloads folder. Instead, you'll see the option to choose where to download the file, as you've noticed.
Please feel free to submit your feedback on the Desktop App to the Product team by creating an Idea Post in the Smartsheet Product Feedback and Ideas topic here in the Community. This will allow other users to vote on your enhancement idea!

I'm having the same issue where I cannot open an email attached to a row via the IOS App, if I download it to files an open it's the same, no content. Confirm too we all use the same email App, it's a critical part of our process that our crew can open emails. Any clues on what's happening here?
Cheers.

Hi @Jason P
It looks like your phone is having trouble opening .msg type of files; Smartsheet won't be able to help you with this as it's specific to your phone and the file type uploaded/downloaded.
Cheers,
Genevieve
