Using Workflow for document generation

If a column has a formula can I still run workflow on it? I have tried just changing it to a cell formual versus a column formula and still cant get it to work right.

Is your formula referencing data that only appears in this sheet, or is it a cross sheet formula?

Currently, workflows that make changes to a sheet (e.g. Copy Row or Assign People) can't be triggered by a cell-link, cross-sheet formula, or an in-sheet formula that references a cell link or cross-sheet formula. Here's more information: Trigger Blocks: Define When Your Workflow is Executed
