What is the Smartsheet cell limit?

What is the Smartsheet cell limit including all cells, empty or contain only formatting information? Is it 5million or 500k?I see one of the trusted site mentioned it as 5M.

I would like to piggy back off this question. I am curious about the cell limit for multiselect.

I have a form with a drop down allowing multiselect. Someone was entering their selections and it totaled to 230 selections. Smartsheet said they exceeded the limit. Is there a specific limit they must stay within?

Hi @VictoriaD, there's a character limit (4000 characters) in each cell. There isn't a limit to the number of values you can input and select within a multi-select dropdown column, as long as the total character count is less than 4000.

Okay, maybe it is a character limit because that many names would probably exceed that. But, the error says "Your multi-picklist selection has exceeded the total size allowed. Please reduce the number of selectins and retry."
