Automation Notification does not include the attachment
Automation Notification does not include the attachment when the email is received even though I have this as a toggled column or field to send.

It should have something like this at the bottom of the email. It's not a direct email attachment, but rather a link to download the attachment. Is that showing up for you?

To have the attachments included, the attachments have to be the trigger of the Workflow/Alert.

Thanks for your response, I still cannot get the workflow to work unless I manually run it.

So struggling to find help to something so simple for some Smartsheet users. I have asked the help center and nothing and through this forum nothing that is helpful as well. I have literally tried everything and nothing is making this workflow send an attachment. I have done this many times but this one just isn't working. Isn't there a CA rep that can be assigned to this as I need some help.

Here's the area of the Help Articles that goes into what's included in an alert workflow: Selecting what’s included in an alert or request
As @Andrée Starå noted, attachments won't always be included. They will only appear in the email if the trigger for the workflow is the attachment being added to that row:
If the trigger has a different change (for example, if a status changes to "Complete"), then that change would need to occur at the same time as the attachment is added. Does that make sense?

This makes sense and is what I changed it to a couple days ago, still not triggering or sending the notifications at all, no attachments ... nothing. I'm not sure why and have asked the CM support team but nothing from them at all even though its an active ticket.

How are you adding attachments to the row, is it a manual upload in the sheet or through a form?
Can you check to see if you received an in-app notification from the workflow (in the bell icon)?
Another setting to check would be your personal notification settings, in case you have the option to receive notifications from your own changes turned off:

so the last item you have noted in the notifications section wasn't checked off so am wondering if this could be the issue. I am adding attachments through the MS Outlook add-in as its a lot easier to move communication from email to the SS platform that way.

If that checkbox was un-checked, it means that any workflow that's triggered by a change that you make (or a change that's registered as coming from your account) will not send you an email.
Has it worked since you've checked the box?

Yes this made the entire workflow work, thank you for your suggestion. How is a person to know that without an expert helping them? I don't see this direction anywhere in Smartsheet and have never had this problem previously. I have used SS since 2015 and this is literally the first time.
