Counting a cell if it has a specific word

I trying to write a formula that says count if the word red appears in the column.

I tried =COUNTIF([All screeners present at event],="Red") but I'm getting an error

Never mind, I got it =COUNTIF([REPORTING All screeners present at event]:[REPORTING All screeners present at event], "Red")

Try something like this.

=COUNTIF([All screeners present at event]:[All screeners present at event],"Red")

What if I wanted the % of time that the word shows up in that column.

I tried =COUNTIF([REPORTING All screeners present at event]:[REPORTING All screeners present at event], "Red"), /COUNT([REPORTING All screeners present at event]:[REPORTING All screeners present at event]))

I feel like I'm close but still getting an error

Hi @Connie Cochran

It looks like you have an extra parentheses at the end which is why you're getting an error. There's also an extra comma at the front.

Here's the structure:

=COUNTIF(reference, "criteria") / COUNT(reference)

I've bolded the sections I updated... try this:

=COUNTIF([REPORTING All screeners present at event]:[REPORTING All screeners present at event], "Red") / COUNT([REPORTING All screeners present at event]:[REPORTING All screeners present at event])
