Some of my parent rows are grey background, some are not...

Hi,

I'm trying to figure out why some of my parent background are grey, and some are not. In the page:

about 1/2 way down, under "Expanding and collapsing.."

both "Administration" and "software engineers" parent rows are grey background.

But in my sheet, only "administration" is. "Software engineers" is not. My un-grey'ed parent rows are left-most indented.

Whats the difference? How do I convert them?

So in my case, "sanitation" "pest control" etc are not grey. They are not related to the top-level grey "iso"

Hi Asia jason

It looks like you want the Sub Parent rows to be a certain colour of highlight? The most senior Parent row will always be Gray as the default but the indented Parents are clear, so using Conditional formatting you can change the background colour, font colour and even Gantt Bar colours to your corporate style in Conditional Formatting.

Based on the screenshot of your Smartsheet, it looks like you built your Smartsheet from the templates available from Smartsheet. It used gray as the color for the top-level tasks/rows. You can change the color of any row manually, or use conditional formatting as Richard mentioned. You can find more information at https://help.smartsheet.com/articles/518246-formatting-options.
