Today IF formula not working

Hi All,

I am stumped. I have my Late or On Time column set up as a text/number column. I literally copied and pasted the formula as written from here: https://help.smartsheet.com/function/today

And I am getting #Invalid operation? What am I doing wrong? I even put a helper date up in the grey row and changed the TODAY to that cell, same #Invalid operation operation error? Any advice?

Double check that your Due Date column is set as a date type. Also ensure that the column your cross sheet reference/cell link is pulling from is set as a date type column.
