Automation Not Triggering off of a Formula cell
![Sam H.](https://us.v-cdn.net/6031209/uploads/userpics/J7TKKBI79GZM/n2S14AL493LW5.jpg)
I have two automations that are not functioning.
- Move a row to another sheet when the status of the row reflects Mastery.
- Notify someone when a date appears in a cell.
Both of the cells that are initiating the triggers are populated from formulas. I'm wondering if this is the issue. Has anyone else run into this problem of Smartsheet not recognizing the cell change due to formulas?

Hi @Sam H. and @Kleerfyre
Workflows that modify a sheet (e.g. Move Row) cannot be triggered by cross-sheet formulas, or formulas that reference cell-links or cross-sheet formulas. This is to prevent an infinite loop. Here's the Help Documentation on this:
In these instances, I would suggest using a time-based workflow instead, see: Create a Time-Based Automated Workflow

Yes, I have ran into this issue. Some of the triggers will only work after a save of the sheet. I found no work around for what I was trying to do and just abandoned it. Worked with my CSM and the technical team for weeks, but we did not find a solution.

@Genevieve P. using a time based solution in my case would make everything late based on my use case. I needed it to notify the users as soon as it happened.
