Missing drop-down options in my filter selections. Where did they go?
I have been creating filters and for some reason a couple of my drop-down options are not showing up as filter selections, even though they are correctly showing up as drop-down options in the sheet. To illustrate, here are the drop-down options I have for a column in my sheet, which are working correctly:
but when I try to create a filter for a particular drop-down selection, for some reason the selections skip from option 1 to option 4, 5, 6... (i.e., no D2 or D3)
Anyone have any insights/help for me? Thanks.

"I can see that your two selections have 135 and 142 characters each. When I cut the character count under 100, they appear as options to filter by."

Because they are not listed in the spreadsheet - so there is no records with D2, D3, etc.

Thanks, @topazfae. That answer made a lot of sense to me until I looked in my spreadsheet and found records with D2 and D3 (see below) 🤷. Also, I created other filters for drop-down options not chosen/in spreadsheet (which returned 0 results). Any other insights or ideas?

Are they spelling correctly? If you can, share the sheet with me and I can look into it and see why it is not showing up in the filter. Check for extra space - those buggers always get to me.

@topazfae I tried to check spaces, but to no avail; I'm new to this community - what's the best and safest way to share a copy of the sheet with you?
-
@mgreenwalt if you feel comfortable share the file with snippet of your data - or you can share it to me (I will send you private with my email address). Make sure your smartsheet doesn't have any PII in it.

@Genevieve P. @mgreenwalt I initially considered the idea but dismissed it due to the difference in the first two characters. However, in retrospect, I should have recognized it as a character limit issue. Now that we're aware of this limitation, it might be worth submitting a bug report to Smartsheet, requesting an expansion of the character limit from 100 to the standard 255 characters.
-
@topazfae not sure how to do that (bug report), but sounds like a good idea and a pop-up saying "you've exceeded the character limit..." or similar; thanks again!

Hi @mgreenwalt
I hope you're well and safe!
I hope that helps!
Be safe, and have a fantastic week!
