Auto sort Rows
is there a way to auto sort rows based on a column. I have one column with drop down and want the rows to all sort based on the order of the drop down. If I add a row or change that dropdown in column I want the rows to auto sort.
Right now I have to right click the column every time to sort when data is changed

There is no auto-sorting feature in sheets. This is only in reports at the moment. I believe that the idea has already been submitted as an enhancement request. Feel free to browse the Product Ideas tab at the top of this page and add your vote.

Ok thanks Paul. I will defiantly vote for that feature

There's no way to automate it using when rows added as a trigger? I'd love to do this so my High priorites are always at the top of the sheet

Not within a sheet. You can do it in reports but not sheets.

@Melinda_eMS You would need to leverage the API to get it to auto-sort within a sheet. Otherwise you would want to use a report.

Does anyone know an update on this topic? I'm interested to know if there have been any developments in this area??

Hi @malorie
The enhancement is on the long-term road map, you can follow it, and add your use case, here:

Hi everyone, I created a browser extension that adds automatic sorting into SmartSheet. You can can click here to download the browser extension.
Then click "Sort Rows":
Then click "Sort Automatically":
Then the browser extension will automatically sort whenever the data changes. The browser extension also saves your sort settings, so that you don't need to manually re-enter them.
Also, this automatic sorting works with filters. So if you enable automatic sorting, and then add a filter, the extension will automatically sort the data even with a filter enabled.
Best!
