Chinese Character Support for Document Builder
Hi,
I am using a Generate Document workflow to fill out a fillable PDF.
I have some cells with information both in English and Chinese.
However, all the information in Chinese does not carry over to the fillable PDF.
In April 2021, Smartsheet announced that "Generate Documents" in the document builder now supports Simplified Chinese and Traditional characters when generating PDFs.
Has anyone experienced this issue, and what are potential solutions?

Hi @aleewong
I tested it out because I was curious.
In my environment, I was able to create a PDF file with three types of Chinese characters: simplified and traditional Chinese characters and Japanese characters from Smartsheet cell fields.
Simplified and traditional Chinese characters were taken from the web.
Please check out the demo sheet and see how the document is created by checking the Create button.

Thank you!
Does the PDF form have any type of formatting (For example: font)?

I used Adobe Acrobat's "Convert PDF to Fillable Form" feature.
You may be able to access the PDF from the link below.

I have the same issue, if the cell contains both English and Chinese characters, it only identifies English characters. For example, in smartsheet "废品LOGO", after conversion, in pdf it becomes "LOGO“.

This problem may occur only with simplified Chinese characters.

I have the same issue. If one cell have both Simplified Chinese and English characters, the pre-set font will be changed and only the English characters will be recognised and filled into the pdf file.
