Dropdown Menu Functionality

Is there a way to control what appears in a dropdown menu based on what is selected in a different cell.

i.e.

Dropdown Columns:

[A] & [B] as [B] is dependent of [ A]

If “School” is selected in cell A, then in cell B your choices will be Z, Y, Z

However, if you select “Work” in call A, your cell B choices will be S, T, U, V

This is for use with a form.

    Hi @Mike B

Yes, that's called Form Logic in Smartsheet. Click on a field in the Form Builder and then click on the Logic button circled below. Explaining it all here would be a long read but it's pretty straight forward. You need to have a separate column for each set of choices. Sometimes, on the landing sheet, columns are created to sort of wrap the answers up. So if you have 3 columns of choices but only want to display 1 on a report or something with all the answers, you can do a formula like, IF column1 is blank, check column2 and if its blank, check column3, then return the column with the value.

    I hope that helps. -Matt

Since you are using a form, you would need to create separate dropdown columns. So you would have one that has School and Work as the options. Then you would have another that has X, Y, and Z, and another dropdown column that has S, T, U, and V.

In your form, you would use the form field logic to display the first set if School is selected or the second set if Work is selected.

If you need it all in one field for reporting purposes, you would create another column (not available in the form) and use a column formula to grab whichever is not blank.
