Resource Management in Hours and Task Rollup
I recently started using the Resource Management tool and I have two questions about it. We are using 1 sheet only.
1) Is there a way to display hours vs. percent allocation? Everything I have seen with this feature thus far seems based on the latter and I'd like the option to report on the former
2) Is there a way to display the tasks that are contributing to the resource's allocation, other than to open up the source sheet? The goal here would be to see, by resource, a list of tasks per day assigned to them from within Resource Management.
Thanks!

Hi Dave,
At this time, there isn't a way to display resource allocation in hours (only in a percentage), and you must open the sheet to see tasks contributing to allocation.
You can apply filters in your sheet to narrow down on a specific person, details on this in the filters help article.
Overallocated resources on tasks with a finish date in the future will have a red icon next to the row number on the right. Details on resource management are in our help article.
When you have a moment, please submit your request for these features directly to our Product team using the Product Enhancement Request form under Quick links on the right of the community site.

Hi,
I have the same question about using hour based tracking. Has this been addressed yet?

Hi Todd,
I asked the same question and got this answer 2 Feb 2019 (2 days ago):
"Hello Hugo,
Thank you for contacting Smartsheet Support. We don't currently have the ability to track hours spent each day and display it in Resource View, but I've let our Product team know about your request. We appreciate your input!"Unfortunately its not here yet but let's hope It'll come soon!

I'll add a +1 for this.
When planning a project it's important to me to look at the roll-up of hours, globally and per resource over the entire project, as this is the way the project was initially costed to the client.
Right now, I can see a view of Resource % to find overlaps and over allocation, which is good, but is completely different to what this thread is about, which is number of hours/days per project, per resource. The maths are relatively basic, but building formulas, and then considering hours per day/allocation % across a varying set of resources, on multiple sheets is a lot of work, for something that could be baked into the resource view much more easily.

The ability to assign a cost per hour to a resource and then get a roll-up of project costs (per task, per project, per resource) for budgeting seems like a basic, required feature. I'm relatively new to Smartsheet and desperately need this functionality. Should I just go back to Microsoft Project or is there some reasonable work-around yet?
