Search tool not working

My search tool is not working. I can only search for the full content. EX: if I want to search for a vehicle VIN I only use the last 5 digits instead of the full 17. I do use the * and it still does not work. Was working fine Monday. Yesterday it starting giving me issues. I have logged out and back in and also cleared my browser. Help Please.

@Anita Barnett Ok. I understand you are trying to do a wild card search using the search box in Smartsheet. Using a prefix wild card in the search box is no longer supported.

If your search is in the same sheet, I would recommend highlighting the VIN column and using a ctrl+f to bring up a find box and use that to search for the data.

I was trying to understand what you are using to search for the VIN by the 5 numbers. There a different methodologies that could be used to perform this. If you could explain what you are doing in SS to perform the search, the community will be able to provide more guidance.

Ok. If 12345678910111213 is the VIN I am looking for I search *11213 or 11213*. When I use this * below is what pops up.

Your suggestion to search via ctl+f works on PC but what about on tablet. I am needing to search a document with thousands of lines and searching the exact text is insane. What ways to search on a tablet are there?
