formulas disappearing

I'm having an issue with the formula I created to automatically check a box disappearing if I happen to manually check that box. 

I have it set up so when a certain box is check marked this will cause another box to then be check marked. 

I'm wondering if there is a way to override the formula immediately disappearing when the box is manually checked.

Short answer: No.

If you have a formula and you overwrite it with a manual entry, the formula goes away.

Longer answer: Maybe.

If you are not an Admin, you can have the columns with formulas locked and can not edit the cell if it has a formula. If you are an Admin, you will not get a warning, and can overwrite it.

Also, if you can do your editing from a Report, formulas a not able to be updated, even by an Admin.
