Hello;

I am new to Smartsheet. Can I import a JSON file directly into Smartsheet or do I need to import it into Excel first and then import the Excel file into Smartsheet?

In the Smartsheet UI, you can Import these file types to create new sheets:

• Microsoft Excel
• Microsoft Project 
• Google Sheets
• Atlassian Trello board

I would agree that yes, you should create the file in Excel then import it that way.

If you're on a Business or Enterprise plan, you could use the Smartsheet API to add data to sheets. Here's more information: Where to find information about the Smartsheet API
