Changes to asset Admin permissions and new Plan Asset Admin role, now generally available!

@Marlana K. @Stu Benoff - I heard the same thing from Engage last year, I believe they mentioned something around 1,000,000 rows per sheet. It might not @ker9 quantity but it's still a major increase.
@ker9 - Thanks for confirming the asset requests with support.

Hello, thanks @Genevieve P. for answering some of my questions in one of the posts. I understand that removing a user's license removes the "owner" of whatever he or she owns, but the assets remain usable by shared users, and only when an access request is required will the Plan Asset Admin get it (assuming there is no "Admin").
However, I am still unsure how I can assign a new owner to the assets/workspace if there is no Admin role in the shared assets, and the previous owner was removed some time ago. Do I need to get one of the shared users to request the Admin status and then assign himself as the Owner?

Has there been any thought to extending this permission Owner / admin to datashuttle flows?
-
A sheet owner cannot transfer ownership to another Admin in a workspace.

It's great to hear your perspective. Ensuring content ownership and privacy is important. Separate plans for certain customers, like insurance, seem like a thoughtful approach.
-
I would agree that it's thoughtful, but in my view, it's a workaround for the lack of functionality to handle this is the base application.
-
any advice from anyone?
-
I guess the question is, based on the new model, why does it matter who the owner is? Overall, the owner is the plan, not a named entity, so as long as the correct people have the correct level of access why does the owner matter?
-
@firestorm - we have an Enterprise system. When someone leaves, we Transfer Owner Permissions to someone else prior to deactivating/removing.
-
@ker9 Same for us, but sometimes we do not know who to transfer to when we want to remove the license from the person who may have left some time ago
-
How can I change this so that they don't go to the admins? Not everyone who requests access to certain sheets should have it, and the admins don't ask first.
-
@sarahe There is no option to change this. We are faced with the same issue and if you share outside of your domain like we do, anyone including those shared outside, with Admin can approve a share. This has become a big headache for us I have had to run reports, check for outside sharing with Admin and have that access lowered. Creating more work to ensure our Security Protocols are followed since we deal with PHI and PII in some sheets.

@sarahe Same here. I don't think there's a way to change the fact that share requests now go to all Admins. We are reworking our sharing throughout the organization to downgrade many users from Admin to Edit access.
-
@Marlana K. @Julie Fortney Thank you for your thoughts. Smartsheet definitely needs to adjust this for only the owner to assign who else they want to be able to grant that access.

Hello - I'm looking to see if there is an update on when the Manager user permission level might be rolling out? It was discussed heavily in sessions at ENGAGE and that it bridges between Admin and Editor permissions. Allowing licensed/subscription users the ability to edit sheet columns, etc., but not receive Admin approval emails for user access requests to the asset, renaming or deleting the sheet (Similar to Owner/Admin roles before).
@Genevieve P. - Would you have any insight on when this change is expected?
Thank you - Michael
