Move Rows Action Not Working

I have a workflow that triggers on the 16th day of a month to move all rows to a different grid. There are no conditions whatsoever on the workflow and the destination has identical column names. There are roughly 12,000 rows and 33 columns.

I received an automated error message via email that said:

"One or more of the actions in this workflow has consistently failed after multiple retries."

I have attempted to use the "Run Now" feature. This also fails to work.

I have changed the destination to a blank file and tested the workflow with the "Run Now" feature, which also failed.

Is there a list length issue? EG, is there a limit to how many rows the "Move Rows" action can process or handle?

Hi @WerkinGrg22, with that many rows, you've probably eaten up your allotment of cells on the target page. Your automation will be shut down if you are going to go over that limit. You are currently limited to 500K cells per page, and only 20K rows (regardless of cell count). See limitations here:

The move rows function is a little buggy when working with that many rows. It might be better to just save the sheet as new. I think smartsheet is working on fixing this.

If it's that glitch that @SteyJ mentioned, you can manually trigger a smaller number of rows to move by adding a checkbox column, point your move automation at the checkbox, and just check the rows off 1000 at a time (save and wait for them to move). I've had to do that before.

I've had issues working with big sheets & automation. Usually what I end up doing is moving cells by highlighting the rows, right click and "Move to another sheet..." function.
