Contact list column only with photo

Is there a way to display only the photo or photo + first name in a contact list column? The full name makes it lengthy.

Short answer No.

You could potentially edit your contacts if you're the system admin, and remove their last name. Very manual though. There's no formulaic way to manage contact names.
