Using Formula for a total count/sum

Thank you for taking my question.

What is the format to create a formula that supports this scenario; A total count or sum based on a specific word in a cell in a sheet.

For example, collect the total number of the word "Pass". Same for "Fail" and so on.

You would be able to pull it with:

=COUNTIF([Result Grade]:[Result Grade], CONTAINS("Pass",@cell))

=COUNTIF([Result Grade]:[Result Grade], HAS(@cell,"Pass"))

The difference being that the first would count if there were a text string like "Partially Pass", and the second will only pull if the string is solely "Pass".
