Pre-Populate a form

Hello

I am working on a form to collect the Employee's PTO request. However, i would like to prepopulate the Form with the Employee's PTO balance (which referenced from another sheet)

I read some articles about using URL, but i don't know how. Can anybody help me with this?

You could use an Automated Alert Workflow and include a link to the form pre-filled by using the URL-Query feature.

Hey Andree, Thanks for your response. I read this before. I kinda get the idea but it wouldn't work. I am a little confused. See below. I have the PTO balance column and it was referenced from another sheet, I want to pre-populate this value to the PTO request form.

For Query String, do i just copy the link of the form and add ?Current%20PTO%20Balance? then enter in the default value?

Hi @zichang zhang

Currently Smartsheet forms cannot pre-fill dynamic values based on sheet content. You can set a static value by adding it into the string, as Andrée suggested, but you would need to know what you want to put in the form ahead of time, and it would be the same value every time.

If you need users to update a row that already contains content, I would suggest using an Update Request instead! Here's more information: Update Requests
