Clean up reference sheet labels

I've searched how to clean up reference sheet labels within a task sheet when creating formulas, and I can't seem to find anything. It gets unruly when I'm creating formulas in multiple columns.

With the new Sheet Reference Manager, you can right-click a cell that contains a cell link or a cross-sheet formula and select “Manage References…” to:

When you say 'reference sheet labels', do you mean the "Sheet reference name" used when referencing another sheet in the formula?

If so, one of the best practices is using the "Sheet Reference Manager" and some name conventions.

Sheet Reference Manager

One good tool to manage sheet references is "Sheet Reference Manager." You can delete multiple references at once and duplicate references to the same sheet with different columns.

Name conventions

When creating a reference, smartsheet will give a default "Sheet reference name" in a "Sheet Name" + "Range 1,2,3" format. Do not use the default name suggestion as is. 

If I know I am referencing only one sheet, I delete the default value and input the column name I am referencing. For example, {Task Name}.

If I am dealing with multiple sheet references, I delete the "Range 1" part and add the column name, like "Reference Sheet: Task Name" or "Sheet Name: Column Name". That way, you know what sheet and columns you are referencing. For example, {Reference Sheet: Task Name}.
