Unable to change the start date in a project plan
I am unable to change the stat date in one of my project plans. Usually, when this happens it's because there's a predecessor linked to it, but there isn't one in this case. I also looked at the project settings and there doesn't appear to be any conflict.
I'm trying to change the start take for row 47. Is there a setting I'm forgetting about that's preventing me from changing the start date? I can change the end date, but that doesn't help me much.

@BethWork It looks like you are pulling the data in from somewhere (little black arrow) so you'd have to update the date on the sheet it's pulling from or break the link. If you click on the cell it should give you a message about the link in some way so you can see where it's coming from/break the link.

@JCiabattoni The grey arrow is an outbound link. It's actually pushing that date to another sheet.

@BethWork Oy! 2 weeks away from using Smartsheet and I forget the basics.🤣 Sorry about that.
While I'm sure you'll want to add it back in, have you tried deleting the duration to see if that lets you edit the date?
I'm wondering if it's something glitching.

@JCiabattoni Yes, I deleted all of the information on that row and only the start date remained in place. I didn't delete the actual row.

@BethWork That is so odd. What about deleting the link to where the date is going to?
Or perhaps very worse case you'll have to create a new row and relink it.
Have you tried reporting it to Support?

@Paul Newcome Do you happen to know the answer to this. I looked at past forum discussions and don't see the answer to this. In the past, it has always been if there is a predecessor linked to that row it prevents me from changing the start date. Once I remove the predecessor I'm able to change it freely. I haven't encountered an issue like this where even if I try to delete the start date it won't let me even do that. I've checked the project settings and the column settings and all looks normal.

@BethWork Did you solve this?

Hi,
I have the same issue.
I used the template "Project with WBS" and didn't find any predecessor, nor formula link with the start date
Best Regards

@Angie Hatfield @Yann Noirjean It's been so long since I had this problem, but I do think it still ended up being a predecessor on a parent row. It prevents ever child task from being editable. I had a very detailed project plan and a lot of lines so it took me longer to find the issue row.

Hi BethWork,
You were right, it was a predecessor on a summary task !
Thank you to be so reactive!

You're welcome! @Yann Noirjean It's always a sneaky one.
