Repeating References relational Database

I want to create a list of unique references, and then use that list to populate multiple other smartsheets, for items that use that reference. How do i do that?

Use Index/Match in the child sheet to look up the key and return the data found in the respective row in the parent.

You can use VLOOKUP a bit easier, but it will break if you move columns around.

can you please give a brief overview of the workflow to achieve both methods ie index/match and VLOOKUP

Here's the structure for INDEX/MATCH.

=INDEX({ColumnWithTheValueYouWantToShow}, MATCH(CellThatHaveTheValueToMatch@row,{ColumnWithTheValueToMatchAgainsTheCell}, 0)

Here's the structure for VLOOKUP.

=VLOOKUP(CellThatHaveTheValueToMatch@row,{RangeThatHaveTheValueToMatch*}, ColumnNumberWithTheValueYouWantToShow, 0)

*Where the first column is the ColumnWithTheValueToMatchAgainsTheCell
