Is there a way to have the data within a Metric Widget to be sorted automatically in order?
I have data that is being ranked in order of how many errors occurring from most to least. I've organized these in the summary sheet of the reference sheet however currently I have to manually move the data by dragging them individually in the Metric Widget. Since my report could change based on the number of errors occurring, I was wondering if this can be automated within the Metric Widget?

Hi @rmiro
Automatically sorting data within a Metric Widget is not feasible.
Would you like to try a combination of formulas and conditional formatting in the underlying data sheet to automatically update the sorting.
Ø For example, you can use a formula like =RANK(A2, errors_column, DESC) to rank the errors in descending order, and then use conditional formatting to hide or show rows based on a threshold (e.g., only show top 5 errors).
Ø To add more brightness - use a formula column to calculate the rank or priority of each row based on the number of errors occurring.
Ø You can use functions like RANK or SORT combined with COUNTIF or other relevant functions to dynamically sort the data.
Out of this method when the data changes, the sorting and ranking will automatically update, and the Metric Widget will reflect the changes without any manual intervention.
Hope this helps - Happy to help further!!
Thank you very much and have a great one!

Hi @rmiro
I hope you're well and safe!
Unfortunately, it's not possible now, but it's an excellent idea!
I hope that helps!
Be safe, and have a fantastic week!

Unfortunately, what you're suggesting doesn't work in Smartsheet because it's formatted for Excel.
Smartsheet doesn't, for example, have the SORT function.

@Humashankar @Andrée Starå Thank you both for your help and suggestions!
I do have a formula column to rank the errors and they have been sorted within the column. I've only manually sorted the ranking within the summary sheet and that is reflected in the Metric Widget.

Yes, I missed that if you use a formula structure, you could have it populate the metric widget in the order you want.
