Baseline new activities added to schedule

How do I baseline new activities added to my schedule without it impacting the baselines already established for activities that had been in the schedule?

My schedule is being populated in phases so new activities will be added over time. If I reset the baselines already established for work that was in the plan already, it resets those baselines and I cannot see the variance anymore.
