Question about sharing sheets in a workspace

Is it possible to share just one sheet in a workspace, rather than sharing the entire workspace? I have a sheet in a workspace that I need to share with a collegue but I dont want to give them access to all the sheets in the workspace. Thanks!

Hi SamS - Workspaces were designed to have set sharing permissions for a group of sheets. Everything located inside of a workspace will be shared to whoever is shared to the workspace. If you want to have individual sharing permissions on sheets, I would recommend using folders to organize your sheets instead of workspaces.

I just posted to another discussion re: Workspaces (https://community.smartsheet.com/discussion/accessing-sheets-several-folders-home-tab) that differential sharing of items within a workspace is coming. Development should begin in Q2 2015 timeframe.  Many others have asked for this and we look forward to delivering it.

Great news to hear. I've been creating splinter work spaces for separation, and it's growing quite a bit, when you want a single PMO work space, but project teams members are all different and don't need visibility to the broader PMO work space.

i.e. being able to share one single sheet in a workspace with certain people rather than having to share the entire worspace

Below is the exact opposite of what I am looking to be able to accomplish.

NOTE: The only time a folder isn't private is if it's created within a shared workspace. If a folder is created within a workspace, it will inherit the sharing permissions of that workspace. Review ourWorkspace Sharing article for further information.

The feature has entered the QA/Test cycle and provided we do not encounter major issues during this phase, it will be released for general availability with the planned January 15th product update.

Joe and Victor, we are working hard to get this feature released during our next update. I will update this thread when I have more information to share.
