Update % COMPLETE based on another column

I have an IF() that I am running to calculate a % complete of a tasklist. I want the % COMPLETE column to have the same value, so it will shade the bar in the gantt view. How do I do that?

I changed the settings for the "% complete column" to none to allow me to input a formula. However, it did not shade the bar (guessing this is the setting to define that shading).

I tried using an update automation, but it will only pass a string and not a formula.

Am I missing something? Is it not possible? Work around?

    Here you go... I want the values of the second column in the first.

    @Jared Agee

    Are you using the dependencies feature? If yes, you can't use a formula in the % Complete assigned in the project settings because it's automatic.

    Take into consideration that when you activate dependencies, you can't use formulas in the Start Date, End Date, Duration, % Complete, and Predecessors columns.

    I changed the % Complete setting to none, which allows a formula. However, It does update the gantt.

    If I leave the setting above set to "% Complete" it will update that gantt but I have to manually enter the value.

    Is there not a way to keep the functionality to update the gantt and automate the entry of the value in the "% complete" field? I tried an automation, but it would not take the value from a cell (unless I am doing it wrong).

    Thanks for the insight and help.
