Embedded images when Exporting to Excel

Is it possible to export the images that have been embedded into a sheet, when the sheet is exported to Excel. It works when exporting to PDF but not Excel.

Instead of directly exporting the sheet, you'll want to use the Backup option to send yourself a zip file that has both the excel version and images attached or embedded in the sheet. Here's more information: https://help.smartsheet.com/articles/2482570-how-often-create-backup

While doing a backup exports the images alongside the sheet, it does not embed them into it. So while being slightly better than the default export option this is not a practical workaround.

We have many users who need to download the sheets to excel with images embedded, do a small amount of work on the sheet in excel, not having this functionality really limits our ability to roll out the use of Smartsheet in our organisation.

Are there any plans to implement this functionality on your products roadmap?

Currently there is no way to export a sheet or have a backup of a sheet with images embedded in the exported file.
