I have a dropdown list with some names and my goal is to create a corresponding contact list with emails. Is it possible to select from the list of names so that the email automatically populates? Is is possible to use index match to achieve this? if not how can this be done?

To index/match, you would first need to have the email address and name available in another sheet. If you have this, you can simply do

=INDEX({Email Address in other Sheet}, MATCH([Name Dropdown]@row, {Name in other Sheet}, 0))

Make sure the email address column with this formula is a contact list column.
