Can something like this be implemented in Smartsheet? Calendar snapshot with summary of events displayed on the side?

    There's nothing exactly like that. The Calendar App does have a variety of display options and, when clicked, you can define what information appears to the right. But it's fields of info, not another calendar or "sub calendar". It does group on the left similar to what you're showing.
