Dashboard and Widget Action

When creating a dashboard, I have been creating charts and linking to reports using the widget action “open another site” and using the report link. The reason is my team prefers to have the report open in a new tab.

Currently, I’m going into each report and adding view access for each user. I have several reports in each dashboard so it’s a very manual process.

Is there another way to do this so the reports open in a new tab AND everyone has access if they have access to the dashboard? My concern is I will miss someone, and they will not be able to access the report to view it.

Thanks!

    Hi @KPeltzel

Have you considred using user groups? You can create a group that will include all the users that need access and give the access to the group. Than any access changes can be done once to the group instead of removing or adding access to each dashboard and report separately.

Here is some information on Groups: https://help.smartsheet.com/learning-track/level-1-get-started/groups

Let me know if I missunderstood the issue.

  • @Itai Thank you for your response. This seems like a great option but, unfortunately, I am not an admin on the account so I'm unable to create a group.

I see, is it possible for you to request being a group admin? If you are a licensed user the account admin can allow you to just be a group admin which will give you the option of creating groups and sharing assets with these groups without being a system admin.
