Can I take a cell value from a reference sheet and update the source sheet with the value?

Options

I have a "database sheet" of assets in our company. I also have a "Scan sheet" that consists on 1 field that is used to scan a qr code and return the scan code in that cell. There are then 9 rows that index collect to the "database sheet" to show the asset information. What I am trying to do is be able to assign that asset to a new contact in the "scan sheet" and have that reflect back to the "database sheet". (still having the ability to re assign contacts in the database sheet) Having trouble thinking through to the right solution, any help is greatly appreciated.

I believe this could be achieved using a combination of a workflow to copy rows over to your "Data base" from your scan sheet. Then use a formula to flag the old information for removal via Workflow to move to another "Trash" sheet. Thus leaving only the copied Row as the current data.

This was actually the solution that we tested. While it did work it was clunky and slow since everything was based on automations. I think our long term answer here is going to be bridge. We are configuring a prototype now. I appreciate your response and insight on this. @Mark.poole
