Record a Date Automation
Hi!
Has anyone found a way to use Smartsheet automations to update a date filed a SPECIFIC date?
I want to find a way without building a helper sheet, or wasting space with helper columns, to record a specific archive date once a project is marked as "complete." I would like to archive all completed projects, regardless of when complete on the first day of our fiscal year.
In summary, if Project Status is "Complete" record "06/30/2025" in a date field, if false, then date field is blank.
Thanks!!!

You can’t record a date like that. How ever if you do an automation to change a cell instead you can make it be what ever you want.

Could you not create an automation to run once only on the first day of your fiscal year (say at 5pm) on 6/30/2025 (recurring annually), where condition project status = complete, record date 06/30/2025? I pasted a version of this in the image below using a sheet I have so obviously the fields aren't accurate, but would this not work for you?

@MWilkesen so glad it may work for you! Happy to help. Sometimes (at least for me) I tend to over think things lol.
