Sum of whole column based upon formula
Hi all
I have a column 'Prob x Impact' which returns the sum of two other columns. I can't find a way to sum the total of 'Prob x Impact' so I can then work with it to establish the average based upon that total. I'm trying
=SUM([Prob x Impact]:[Prob x Impact])
but it's returning #INVALID OPERATION. Is it not possible to sum a column of formulas?

Hi @Lisa Bowley
Yes, you can sum columns of formulas. Below are three columns — Primary is a formula that adds Col 2 plus Col 3 in each row. The total at the bottom adds all of the formula results from the Primary column — that sounds like what you are trying to accomplish?
If I remove the total ( I renamed Primary Column to match your column name) I can then write a formula in the Summary Field using the entire column:
If you can provide screen shots, or some additional info, I'm happy to help you solve for this — it should be doable! 😊

Thanks Pauline - yes it should be do-able, shouldn't it!
I'm trying to do the calculation at the top of the sheet rather than the bottom, because more rows will be added. But that shouldn't make any difference…

What does your Prob x Impact column looks Prob x Impact column looks like? There probably values that are not valid for sum, like combination of numbers, letters, and or symbols.
