  • @Genevieve P. I hope you can help me as well, I am total new user to the resource management (with basic smartsheet in general). I read the article you shared. I am not seeing/ understanding the differences (sorry) between "Use the Resource Management panel to connect it to a resource plan in Resource Management".

On my plan i do have start and end time, as well as assignee. and when i click on "Resource Management" panel nothing shows up for me. Is there an additional step i need to take prior to activate?

    Hi @danasliman

The Allocation % column that you need to map (which your screenshot shows as Planned Start Date Time) should be a Text/Number column in your sheet which is formatted as a percentage. The value expected is what % of time between the planned start date time and planned end date time do you expect the assigned person to work on the task. If it is going to be full time, you will enter 100 in the column you create to capture allocation %. You can enter any % value. Resource Management panel will start showing up records of people where there are no blank values in the Planned Start Date time, Planned End Date Time, Assigned To, and Allocation % column you create.

  • Hi @AravindGP
I am running into a similar problem as @danasliman. I have set the Allocation and Resource fields correctly (I think), and am still seeing nothing in the Resource Management tab.

Are there additional troubleshooting steps that you could recommend?

    Thanks for your support

  • Hi @AravindGP,

I have found the issue. I created a resource that was not a registered user; and this was causing the breakge.

One question then - is there a way to add in a Resource that is a piece of equipment? E.g. a CNC. This would be very helpful for me to do some capacity planning.

    Thanks,

    Ian

    Hi Ian,

You can. My suggestion would be to add the equipment in RM as a placeholder. You can then assign something to a placeholder and see its utilization between a given timeframe.
